Difference Between How Americans and Italians Eat!

Where we buy food
In the US, people go to the supermarket for groceries, and usually they go to big supermarkets, like Costco, Wegmans, and Walmart. In these stores, you can find everything you need, and the foods are also in big sizes. Well in Italy, all of this doesn't exist. We have small supermarkets with small size products or you can go to the market and find the best vegetables and fruit of the season.

Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner are not to be in a rush
Doesn't matter if you are in a rush or if it's a weekday, an Italian never skips a meal. Most of the shops are closed for a couple hours during lunchtime, usually between 12pm to 3pm. Dinner is around 8:00pm/ 9:00pm. Italians eat every meal at the table. It's not common to go around the house eating while you are standing or in the bedroom. We sit all together at least for one meal. For example, sometimes it's hard having the same schedule at lunch break, so we have dinner together because eating together and enjoying time spent with friends and family is very important to Italians.

Numbers of Course on Christmas
Each meal has multiple courses, especially on Sunday or on the Holidays like Christmas. Holidays like Christmas are big in Italy, and Italian people love celebrating them with friends and family. For Italians, Christmas starts on December 24th at dinner, and it is a tradition to eat fish. After that we have the lunch on December 25th where we eat meat, but since we have a lot of courses, we usually start with some appetezir, then we have the first and the second courses. The first one is usually some type of pasta or Lasagne while the second one is meat, chicken or beef. When we finish these two courses we take a little break and we play some card games all together and then we are back to the table for the dessert, fruit and coffee. The dessert is my favorite part because we have the Pandoro and Panettone, and those are typical christmas desserts that you can only buy on Christmas.
